What do I get if I participate in BCL?

  • Daily Leaderboard & Updates
  • Finisher Certificate
  • Medal
  • Event T-Shirt
  • Chance to win prizes under various categories and weekly challenges
I don't live in Bhopal. Can I participate in BCL?
Yes, of course. BCL is a virtual cycling event, and participants can join from anywhere. There are no geographical barriers.
Can I revoke or defer my registration and get a refund?
No. There is no provision for cancellation, deferral, or refunds.

Rides & Rules

What if I am not able to ride someday?
During the course of the event, you are expected to ride a minimum distance of 1 kilometre whenever you ride to qualify as a valid ride for the leaderboard, and also ride for a minimum number of 3 days during the entire event.
If I forget to record my ride, can I update it manually?
No. A manually added ride or a ride without GPS map / coordinates will not be treated as a valid ride for the event leaderboard.
Can I ride indoors?
Indoor rides on simulators, trainers, or smart trainers — even if recorded on virtual cycling platforms like Zwift or Rouvy — will not be considered valid rides. You need to ride outdoors.
Where and when do I need to ride?
You can ride anywhere and anytime, within the event cut-off dates and times. It can be any city or village, any road or trail, on a road bike or MTB, subject to safety precautions and government regulations.
Can I ride as part of another event while BCL is going on?
Yes. If you ride in another cycling event, brevet, cyclothon, or race during BCL, your outdoor rides will qualify for the BCL leaderboard, subject to BCL rules.
Is there any dress / jersey / t-shirt required to participate in BCL?
Participants are expected to wear weather-appropriate, reflective, and comfortable cycling clothing, along with a good quality helmet. Riders safety is our first priority.

Scoring & Categories

How will the winners be decided?
The leaderboard will be updated daily during the event. The participant with the highest mileage in each age category will be declared the Winner, and the participant with the second highest mileage will be the Runner-up. Rules and winners of weekly challenges shall be shared with the registered riders during the event.
What if there is a tiebreaker?
If two riders have the same mileage, preference will be given to the rider with the higher elevation gain for the same distance, and they will be ranked higher on the leaderboard.
What are the various categories in BCL?
Age Categories:
  • 18–30 Years
  • 30–45 Years
  • 45–60 Years
  • 60+ Years
Gender Categories:
  • Male
  • Female
Each category will have:
  • Winner
  • Runner-up
A special category of 10–18 Years to promote young cyclists has also been introduced from the 3rd edition.
Do parameters like Heart Rate, Speed, Elevation Gain, etc. matter?
In this edition of BCL, these parameters do not matter. What counts is consistency and total mileage. However, riders with better parameters can expect surprise rewards.

Fair Play & Support

Can I cheat?
No. Any participant using unfair means, motorized or battery-operated support, or tampering with ride data will be disqualified and banned from future BCL events. The decision of the BCL Organizing Team will be final.
